Hi pyro joe,

I very much doubt that membership is available as i do not think that there is a committee ,but there are still a few lurkers on here so if you have any questions regards your experimentation let us know :)

Hi starseeker, thanks for getting back. Mea culpa - had forms all signed and ready to go couple if years ago, then have been away for work and it eventually slipped my mind.

It is a bit concerning the way things are, the laws bound to change, even EU dictated changes - will this society be able to negotiate and guarantee the amateur will be able to continue? I hope so. Thd Yanks have got it so much easier than us...

What will the alternative be - degree at Cranfield along with being a card carrying IExp member? I'm 49, think at my time of life that ship has sailed...

And now, no new members? Hope all existing members keep paying their dues, otherwise the next thing to go will be this site/forum... hope I'm wrong.

Hi pyroJoe, It's nice to see new people on here, iv not checked in for a few month's now as lack of activity. If your interested in joining still il give phill cooper ( chairman of ukps ) a nudge and get your membership processed as I will see him this weekend at belvoir castle champs, we've been really busy with a festival display and just had our champs display at Stanford hall.

Hi Neil, I had a chat with Wayne and was told it's all on hold for now due to staffing/resourcing problems. I was under the impression Phil C had stood down from all things official, due to workload and home life. So, looks like I'm a bit out of luck, for now. Thanks for the message! Was a bit of a surprise :-) cheers Dave.

AFAIK the Society Company Limited still exists and has funds but no functional membership to keep the funds in the black and the basic admin chores done.

I have a UK interest but go to the USA to do things that are lawful there but not here.

There is no reason why the Society shouldn't attract members BUT there needs to be a good number of people who want to be in a revival for the long term knowing that the UK system is not friendly and actually doing manufacture is best done in an overseas place where their laws permit.

IF there are at least twenty people interested in running the society, fulfilling the official roles as Chair, Secretary etc, and willing to do live pyro in the USA then the society has a future.

One of the tasks the Society once had was to research the hundreds of historic old fireworks companies that once supplied the UK retail market. There was information posted to the forum once which will vanish if the forum goes. Restarting this project and finding a public library willing to hold the product (book!) would be a very interesting project.

Keep mannequins and watermelons away from fireworks..they always get hurt..

Arthur, yes as time passes there seems even less hope of a revivial. Would be interested in hearing about what you get up to in the US. Why we can't have something like the ATF here, I don't know...
