Thanks for the post dr, very interesting article. Mind you, I'm not totally convinced that periodates are less toxic than other oxidisers and there's also the decomposition products to consider too.  I haven't looked for a source available to us but, I'd imagine that periodates are significantly more expensive than the perchlorates.

Your correct they are expensive.. around £1 per gram .. so not to bad lol
