Just Wahoo,
Sorry Huntingbear, I don't think you win anything.
Glad to have you though, welcome aboard.
It's gonna take a lot of fireworks to clean this place up.

Not quite half,Ya but half of em dont contribute anything... damn non-posters....

153 members have posted.
I've wondered about that myself.
Can't figure out why someone would join if they weren't going to post.
I read the site for months before I signed up.
Maybe we could save resources by trimming members who don't post in their first 6 months?
Richard, BigG, any thoughts?

Ah yes - the super duper refurbishment... and Richard promised it will have an ice-cream making machine in it! I'll never leaveWhen the major new super-duper refurbishment is done, waste-of-space 'members' will be taken care of.

That's a very good point.Being a member could be worthwhile even if you don't ever post, since as a member you can "View New Posts," rather than having to sort through "Today's active topics," and you get to set your own defaults, eg number of posts per page, so non-posters are not necessarily all wasting space. There are, however, plenty of people who never even seem to log in at all. Do the admins have some record of when people have logged in? That way members who never use their accounts at all could be removed, rather than ones who just don't post (having said that I'm not sure if there are any)
PS, A water cooler would be great too.
Seperating non-posters from people who never log in may be a possiblity.
Giving these features to guests would be another.
Both of these however, assume Richard is concerned with the service level non-contributers recieve.
PS-If it's going to have ice cream and a water fountian, it should have a coffee dispenser. Whoops, I meant tea dispenser. Sorry about that tea party thing.

I am sure there are lots of people out there who want to learn and don't think they can contribute anything. It still must be a valuable resource to them and it would be a bit unkind to kick them off...

Possibly the solution is not to banish non-posters but to rather make more of the forum restricted to members only, even if it means adding another level of membership. Why should all the formulas be freely available - yes I know this may sound a little selfish but it is not that difficult to become a member.
Maybe I am just grumpy because I have run out of smokes at the moment
