A 'Bottom Shot' (yes, maybe time for a name change?!) is simply a salute as part of a multi-break shell, so say you'd get 3 shell bursts then an almighty kaboom to finish the shell off. Those crazy I-talians etc love them.

If your buying food grade KNO3, I would assume its clear of impurities (within permissible limits as laid down by MAFF).
If you cannot ask your supplier for the spec then you might be able to research the % by finding out allowed strengths for meat usage on the Maff sites, MAFF is now called DEFRA, heres a link, its a good starting point if you want to do some research,
http://www.defra.gov.uk/
I hope its of use to you.:)

That WAS a bad link..

I found out about weshing felders from the pyro website. I can't find anything anywhere on KNO3 meat curing suppliers. At the moment all I got is fertilizer thats 11% pure :( which I refine :)

Thanks, to the Super for giving us a translation on the big chesty Italian bottom shot, (now that I know what it means, I can hold my head up high and I will probably get sectioned if I ever repeat those words in polite company).

I dare to say that the Mrs. does have a pretty fair bottom view. I adore her. She sure ain't no nasty ole sea hag to be sure. Enough has been said already. This is serious stuff we are talking about. We better behave or Mr. Honcho will give us a whacking.:arse:

i dont think it anywhere near that price, if it is, its a massive rip off. lappack sells 500g of 99% pure KNO3 for ?2.60;)

I have found this on many products.
Pricewise, 99% as compared to99.9998-100% purity, the difference being a massive price hype.
I simply go for the best deal I can get on the day.:)
