Topics I've Started

Whistle Rockets

20 February 2006 - 01:24 PM

Hello Alll,

I didn't see any topics on the subject of whistle rockets so I thought I would fire one up. I have been having pretty good success with salicylate whistle rockets. Takeoffs are very impressive and it appears they can carry up an impressive payload without any problems. The salicylate whistle is also very clean, quite different from the benzoate whistles that are scratchy. I'm using the method to make whistle mix as described on passfire using the following formula:

Potassium perchlorate 76
Sodium Salicylate 23
Red Iron Oxide 1
Mineral Oil 3
Colemans Camping Fuel 25 ml

Spin Stabilized Rockets

27 November 2005 - 07:46 AM

Hi All,

I've gotten to the point where my stinger missiles are flying predictable and consistant and am ready to start adding some headings. I already know I can safely add a salute finish with the remaining space of the tube, but I'm hoping to do something more interesting. Can anyone provide some advice on adding interesting finishes to these guys? I'm inquiring because I know stinger missiles are quite senstive when it comes to balance. Lloyd Sponenburgh recently posted on rec.pyro that he witnessed a stinger carrying up a 4" ball shell at FPAG. Not that I want to go that route, but just would like to know what these are capable of lofting.

Amazing Rocket Videos

01 May 2005 - 12:09 PM

Hi All,

I came across some videos of some of the best looking rockets I have ever seen. The rockets in the videos were made by well known rocket builder, Tom Rebenklau, and shot for the Ocean State Fireworks Festival. Enough yapping from me! Please watch the videos and let me know what you think!
