Hi, i have made several batches of BP in the last few months just with my mortar & pestle and then granulating it with 50:50 water/alcohol etc and it burns almost instantly when doing tests but im sure its nothing compared to milled and pressed BP. Im going to order a ballmill next week but i was just wondering in the meantime if i try corning my current BP using a tube with a closed end and a G-clamp and then broke the cake up would it effect the performance at all? i know its not like 8 tons etc but it would be a fair force, basically would it improve the performance at all or would i be wasting my time?
Thanks for you advice.

white spirit

Hi
iv searched the forums looking to see if white spirit would work as a substitute for isopropyl in the CIA method of producing BP, i saw that methylated spirit could be used but unfortunately i dont have any at the moment, just whit spirit. So could white spirit work as a substitue?
Thank you.

charcoal weight

Hey
im using Balsa charcoal in my BP and was wondering what happens in terms of ratios because iv noticed that my balsa charcoal is much lighter in weight compared to say pine charcoal, so say if i was preparing 10g of BP would i still use 1.5g of balsa charcoal even though there will be more of it in volume due to it being so light-weight?
Thank you
Dan

KnO3 compositions
31 May 2007 - 05:26 PM
Hey everyone, i am relatively new to pyrotechnics, i was just wondering if a form of H3 could be made with just KnO3 and charcoal, iv recently made my charcoal and it seems to be of a good quality. If so, what are the best ratios to make reasonable burst using KnO3 and charcoal? also would it be best using a similar technique to making BP, i dont have a ball mill so id have to powder by hand, id be best powdering each one down seperately to as fine as possible then mixing together and add water and leave to dry then powder again? any help would be much appriciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.
