I have got a little bit of lead dioxide from an old battery.
I would like to make crackling micro/dragon egg stars but for that you need lead tetraoxide.
Is it possible to synthesise lead tetraoxide from lead dioxide?
Will heating it work to make it gain 2 extra oxygen atoms or will it decompose to form lead? But then of course another three lead atoms have to be added.
PbO2 + 2Pb + O2 = Pb3O4 ??
or 2PbO2 + Pb = Pb3O4 ??
I have my doubts whether it will work.
I have a feeling heating it will cause:
PbO2 = Pb + O2
Or am I wrong?
I am aware that lead tetraoxide is very poisonous.
Is there anywhere I can get lead tetraoxide (or bismuth tetraoxide)?
Or is there an alternative way to make crackling stars?
Thanks, Jayden.

I have just received a metal lathe and mill drill, does anyone know any good tools to make?
Also, any good websites that are about making pyro tools?
Thanks, Jayden.

Quick question - definition

Just a quick question (3 actually)
- What are gerbs? Are they like fountains?
- What are rains? Are they like waterfalls?
- Lastly, what are flying squids?

Amount of Lift Powder

Concerning starmines, how much lift do you need for x size tube, and x amount of stars?
Does anyone have a table or rough estimate?
I have made starmines before but I haven't done it in a while because my ball mill broke (its up and running now).
I didn't write anything down.
Looking for information on small (1-2cm) to medium (5cm) size tubes.
I think small (1cm) tubes should contain about 1.5g lift with 3-4 stars and small-med (3.5cm) tubes should contain 5g lift with 20-30 stars. Correct?
Thanks, help would be much appreciated.

Beginner Formulas
18 July 2009 - 01:36 PM
I am very new to this forum and I am just wondering if you could tell me about some good simple formulas for stars.
I have made glitter stars, tiger tail, white etc (all very simple), and now I want to get some colour.
I am wondering what chemicals I should get for these.
Any advice and some beginner compositions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Jayden.
