Hi!
Can anyone advise where I can get some PIC from? It seems to be in even shorter supply than normal from my usual suppliers!
Thanks

Card Mortars - Plugs?
27 June 2010 - 05:04 PM
Hi all,
Just been doing some testing on my brand spanking new card mortar tubes from Essex Tubes. Upon inserting a 3" shell upside down into 3" tube, I was hoping to test my racks. However, rather than the tube rupruting, the plug actually blew out of the bottom, causing my rack to pretty much blow apart at the bottom.
Is this common for card tubes? I must say I was surprised when it did it, as I had hoped it would be part of the manufacturer's tests to ensure the plugs wouldn't blow out???
It makes it quite hard for me to design racks to withstand a shell malfunction, when the strongest part of the tube doesn't seem to hold!
Many thanks for anyone's thoughts/input.

Personal Injury Insurance
22 June 2010 - 05:14 PM
Hi again all!
Just a putting-my-feelers-out question regarding personal injury insurance.
Obviously we have Employers Liability insurance for our firework activity, which covers us against being sued by an employee injured through our negligence. However, it doesn't cover myself should I be injured. For that I would need a personal injury policy.
My thinking is that, hopefully as unlikely as it is, should I injure myself and not be able to work, I've lost my fireworks and day-job incomes, and am basically screwed.
Is this a policy people tend to take out, or is it a case of "running the risk".
Many thanks for your thoughts.....

Van Insurance
16 May 2010 - 03:50 PM
Hi again!
Can anyone shed any light on the issue of van insurance for carrying fireworks?
To carry <50kg NEQ can be done by pretty much anyone since it does not fall in the realsm of ADR, etc. However, every van insurance policy I look at specifies that the policy will be void if there are any "hazardous goods" carried.
Can anyone advise of how they go about obtaining van insurance for transporting fireworks to displays?
Many thanks once again

Disposal
09 May 2010 - 08:49 PM
Hi all,
I'm just about to start up a Display Company, but am struggling to find the answer to one question in amongst all of the regs, etc.
Hopefully some of you have some advice to share on this....
How to dispose of spent material.
What are the "acceptable" and "legal" ways to dispose of spent material after a display?
When we return from a venue with a van load of spent stuff, what do I need to do with it - segregate it, destroy it immediately, soak it, burn it, etc etc.
Can I store it a while and then dispose of a job lot?
Do I have to deal with it myself or are there facilities or companies available especially for this?
Many thanks in advance,
Mark
