About Me
Hello Folks,
Just to introduce myself.
I'm old... hehe, well 40ish, but i still have a bit of a 12 year old in me. That's not to say I'm cavalier - just that I haven't lost my curiosity.
Amongst other things I work as a freelance art director and prop maker in film, and a lecturer in architectural technology and workshop skills/ model making at Westminster University. My professional background is diverse but mainly practical design and construction /fabrication - a jack-of-all trades.
I have a full range of workshop tools, and can pretty much make anything.
More and more I'm considering explosive and pyro solutions to a range of art department challenges: the obvious stuff like recreating explosions, gun shots, fires etc., but also launching/ moving things, making bubbles, dust , wind etc.
So far its all pretty low budget stuff. I have made confetti canons with CO2; burnt a 1:5 scale model sailing ship; electrically fired toy caps; lots of small fires and smoke effects in- and outdoors etc. Also done various practical preparations for pyro technicians e.g. weakening/ strengthening and fire - proofing structures.
Then there's all the experiments I did as as a 12 year old (*eek*).
Amyway... increasingly I am being asked to provide other, bigger film effects - so here I am ready to learn. First thing I want to do is get clear on the law.
best wishes for now
