Another option :)

Build the shells yourself (cylinder shells in Italian and Maltese fashion)and shoot them on our display night as well as having the holiday of a lifetime.

Our 2018 May 22 day Pyro Holiday has 4 confirmed bookings so we have just 2 places left free.

2018 will probably be the last year I run these holidays and from later next year the Thai Gov is banning insanely large rockets and Talai.

If you ever wanted a chance to see these amazing devices up front, close and live next year will be your last chance.

In Topic: oxidizer for carbonates

You can make excellent reds and greens using Magnesium (Magnalium will also work and is safer) and PVC with either Strontium Nitrate or Barium Nitrate.

Read up on the topic first as these comps esp with Magnesium can be dangerous if not compounded correctly.

Magnesium needs to be treated with Dichromate (itself a dangerous chemical)  before use.

I've recently made coloured smoke shells from cornflour mixed with food colouring. These were 4 inch canister shells containing around 400 gms and burst with a 10 gm flash bag. The cornflour did not ignite just produced a cloud of colour.

In Topic: Better than Passfire ?

25 January 2015 - 10:49 AM

Passfire was in my opinion the best resource for fireworkers on the internet for years but the constant bickering and bullying by a small number of members coupled with a complete lack of moderation drove most of the members away once Ned Gorski opened fireworking.com.

I don't think there was any falling out between Ned and Kyle.

Fireworking has become a great site with some very experienced fireworkers contributing to the forum and is well worth the 40 US a year subscription.

Last time I was on Passfire it was dead, the last update of any kind of tutorial was over a year ago and the search function all but useless. I didn't bother renewing my subscription.
