Binder in the Lift?
The lifting powder is in most cases nothing than Blackpowder. And I never heared something about blackpowder with any kind of binder. The lift is simply pressed 75/15/10.

Here you kann see a standart "Cake" of 250g blackpowder pressed near to its maximum destiny. After drying over a period of some weeks it will be crushed in the powder breaker and sieved into different Grain sizes.

Some Photos from my 8" and "The Breaker"
Look at http://www.geocities.com/sprengman10/
All files wich starts with "my8in..." are about my 8"
I lift the 6" and 8" with extremly coarse grained Blackpowder. The particles are not finer than 3mm and it goes up to about 6mm.

Here you can see my Powderbreaker that crushes the pressed BP-Cakes in different sizes. Note, the mandrels with the bigest sizes between will get some milled tooth to get a better grip to the big "Rocks" of BP.

I don?t know what I want to do next.
But I?m sure that it would?t be greater than 8"
The last year I don?t made much pyrotechnic things because I build model airplanes and jetengines. Let?s look this year....It?s possible that I go for pyrotechnics again

@JamesH : The burst is simply blackpowder on corn cob without any Flash or whistle mix. I?d formed the hemispheres in a milled wooden form.
@paul: There is sound in the Video. I don?t know why you didn?t her it. Send me your E-Mail and I will try to send you a larger version. You?re right, many Stars had been crushed from the burst but I don?t know what to do with this damn Stars. The core of the outer Stars was:
55 Strontiumnitrate
28 Magnesium
10 PVC
7 Red Gum
On this I rolled a hot prime and cooked Chrysanthemum 8 (Shimizu). Although I rolled with a small amount of water an very thin layers some of the stars split of down on the core.
Last year I shoot a 6" Golden wave to red with the same problem. This sucks.
