Sticking the string & KNO3 sol. in the freezer works well as the pot. nitrate crystalises out & you can simply squeeze off any excess water. You then have a very intimate oxidiser/string complex!

Not on the subject of fuse, BUT... According to my book of statutes, manufacture of explosives isn't a criminal offence, though if they cause harm (or the risk of harm) to people, it is. NB. There doesn't have to be an actual risk, just a theoretical risk, so doing it miles from anywhere is still not an option (according to my textbook). No doubt the regs relating to gunpowder are in some civil statute somewhere... I shall have a look sometime

Sculpy (fimo) will work as a chlorine donor, just grate the undried stuff on a lemon zester or similar. Then again, the colours aren't as good as those sugar based stars. I shall have to leave someone else to try as I'm stuck many miles away from home & have an essay on doctor's liabilites to disabled children to write...

That epoxy proplellant is a nightmare. Very difficult to put into tubes & ignite. I have to admit that the KNO3 wasn't very finely ground though...

It almost sounds too easy to be true... I shall do a search. Thanks
