hi ive not made many stars the last ones i did were using resorcinol as a binder and rolling them in plaster so they were none flammable then bound visco was inserted into a hole in them so they were ignited in the centre they shatter showering ignited pieces across the sky. if you can pm me a postal address you can have the lampblack to try for star making

the only references to nitrocellulose and camphor i could find was in the production of celluloid. The challenge is to find a replacement that is relatively smokeless to replace the single base powder
