Has anyone read the draft copy of the new 2005 regulations?

Fountain Problems
27 February 2005 - 08:47 PM
Hi all,
I made a fountain this evening, it was a 1 inch diameter with a half inch rammed clay nozzle. It was made with two compositions, The first half was BP with 20% added aluminium powder, the second half was BP with 20% added Ti powder. I seperated the two comps with 0.5g of milled willow BP, i did this to clear the dross from the nozzle before the Ti kicked in. The BP i used for the two comps was made with BBQ charcoal and was not milled.
When ignited the intial Al comp was great, giving some blueish sparks that faded slowly. The burn time was around 20 Seconds with a height of around 3.5m. The problem came when the straight BP was reached, at this point the fountain just exploded. The case was not ruptured but the clay nozzle was destroyed. The salute was very deep and VERY loud, I really didn't want this on a sunday though.
Has anyone ever experienced this?

New post Notification

I don't know if anyone else experiences this or if it is just me, but when i read a thread with new posts then click the UK Rocketry & Pyro forums link at the top of the page to go back to the board index, the little picture thats either light blue for no new posts and dark blue for new posts is always still dark blue. Untill i go back into the section and then click the link again it stays dark blue.
Sorry if this is hard to understand, i'm not very good at explaining problems. Is it just me?

Roman Candles sizes
22 July 2004 - 01:02 PM
Hi there everyone, I'm thinking about making a large roman candle. 1 Inch diameter, is that too big. Has anyone had any success or experience making large bore candles. I've only ever seen people talking about half inch maximum. I've made myself a 1 inch star pump with two settings, either 1 inch long or half inch long.
Cheers for any advice,
Dave
